Description

.Learn the basics of basket making or refine your weaving skills with this two-day class. Market Baskets were traditionally used to gather items purchased at the local market or store (think of it as the plastic bag of the nineteenth century). This basket would make a handsome container for household items or as a decoration.

The base is 13” by 8” and the finished basket is 10’’ tall from botton to the top of the handle. No prior basket making experience is necessary. All tools and materials are provided by Historic Richmond Town. Cost of the class, including all materials, is $85 per student.

This course is recommended for participants aged 15 and up.

About the instructor

Paul Borriello has served on staff at Historic Richmond Town for over 15 years. With experience honed over years of working with apprentices and training fellow interpreters, Paul is the preeminent authority on basket making for Historic Richmond Town.
