In this masterclass we will lean into and explore what it means to be your own business owner in show business! To really let our art shine through, we must have a level of business savvy- let's explore ways to unlock your inner entrepreneur! We'll explore questions such as! : How do I find work? How do I promote myself? How do I access markets outside of my current one? How do I make create and sustain new business relationships? How do I negotiate, with or without an agent? How do I plan my life?! and many more!
About the Facilitator: Julie Lumsden is a proud member of the Manitoba Metis Federation, with Scottish and German settler ancestry, born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Treaty One territory. She is a classically trained soprano, actor, musical theatre performer, audiobook narrator and Juno Award nominee.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Manitoba's Desautels Faculty of Music. She has enjoyed five seasons at the Shaw Festival and just wrapped her first season at the Stratford Festival. Julie has also been grateful to join companies such as: the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Manitoba Opera, Edmonton Opera, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Neptune Theatre, ARC Stage, Rainbow Stage and many more!
