In this masterclass, hear from performer Hailey Lewis (current stand-by/dance captain for Mirvish Theatre's Six: The Musical) on how to be a successful understudy. Moderated by Stephanie Sy, this combination masterclass/Q&A will offer emerging artists the chance to learn more about swinging, understudying, and making the most of their time onstage.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Hailey Lewis is an Afro-Canadian triple-threat artist and graduate of the Music Theatre degree program at Sheridan College. Select credits include: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Mirvish); Alice in Winterland Virtual Panto (Ross Petty Productions); Hairspray (Drayton Entertainment & Theatre Aquarius); Anne of Green Gables (Charlottetown Festival); Mary Poppins (YPT); Grease (Irregular Entertainment); The Boys (Amazon); Zombies (Disney); American Gods (Freemantle).

Stephanie Sy is a Filipino-Chinese artist raised on Treaty 1 Territory, Winnipeg. Her twenty-year career began on stage, predominantly in musical theatre, working all across North America. Selected theatre credits include: the first National Tour of We Will Rock You; Next to Normal (Mirvish/Musical Stage Company/Dora Mavor Moore Award Nominee); Peter’s Final Flight (Ross Petty Productions); Vietgone (RMTC); Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Rainbow; Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Globe Theatre); and world premieres of Prairie Nurse (Blyth Festival); A History of Breathing (Persephone); and Prom Queen (Segal Centre). Stephanie was one of the 2021 recipients of the The Harold Greenberg Fund where she wrote, directed, and produced her very first short film, Knots, that was screened in film festivals all over North America.
