This amazing father and daughter duo performs favorite uplifting songs for America’s 250th birthday. It will be a beautiful celebration to remember!
Mat & Savanna Shaw are the first father-daughter duo to boast a #1 charting album on Billboard (American Songwriter). Kelly Clarkson called them “incredibly gifted.” Good Morning America said, “this father-daughter duo’s music is bringing hope.” The New York Times said they “harmonize into billowy bliss."
They have been on several additional TV and news shows, telling their unique story and sharing their inspirational music. Meanwhile, they have accumulated over 100 million online viewers.
Before the Shaws became famous, Savanna was a shy singer in a local children’s choir, a lover of Broadway music. Mat was a busy father of four who had put music on the back burner. During his high school and college years, he had dreamed of pursuing music, and he even attended Weber State University on a vocal performance scholarship. Then he found a career in real estate to support his growing family.
Together, Mat & Savanna rose to stardom in early 2020, almost overnight. Savanna was disappointed when her choir rehearsals were stopped during the Pandemic. In an effort to stay in touch with her musical friends, she established an online account.
In her first ever social media post, Savanna shared a video of herself singing The Prayer with her dad. Originally meant to go no further than friends and family, the video has now been viewed over 100 million times on various social media platforms.
“After recording The Prayer and then listening to it, we realized we have complementary voices, and our vibrato is similar,” said Mat Shaw. (Since then, many fans have compared his voice to Josh Groban.)
Because that video went viral, Mat & Savanna got to work creating and releasing their debut album titled Picture This. It debuted at #1 on iTunes pop charts, #1 on Billboard’s classical albums, and #54 on the all-genre Billboard 200.
They have since released an additional 7 albums, all landing in the top 10 across multiple iTunes and Amazon Charts and hitting #1 on Billboard charts worldwide.
Mat & Savanna are now touring the country, and have shared the stage with many artists including Jim Brickman, David Archuleta, The Piano Guys, and Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons.
Mat & Savanna’s uplifting song choices and harmonies have inspired people the world over. They have a passion for using music for good - often supporting charities, good causes, and providing inspiration with their performances. Their goal and mission is to share hope and spread joy through music.
Built-in 1925, in the grand architectural style of Beaux-Arts Classical Revival, the Simon Theatre provided a splendid setting for many theatrical performances, film screenings and ballroom dances. The James Simon family commissioned Houston architect Alfred C. Finn, whose career included designing a number of prominent Houston buildings as well as the San Jacinto Monument, to design the theatre for the community of Brenham. Today, after a meticulous million-plus dollar renovation, the glamour and grand style lives on for future generations in the newly named Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre.
