Mathilde Marsot

Mathilde Marsot is a bilingual (English/French) indie-folk songwriter from San Francisco, California and Montreal, Quebec. She has been writing songs for longer than she can remember, and performing them since 2006, debuting at her kindergarten talent show. With a background in operatic voice, Mathilde’s soft and airy tone adds a wistful layer to her evocative lyrics and acoustic guitar. She writes on the turbulent era of young womanhood, attempting to discover individuality and a sense of self among the constant societal pressures that the media, tradition, and religion place on women. Discussing love, and often the underlying power struggle within relationships, Mathilde examines the compulsion to undermine and control strong feminine figures. As she enters the throws of adulthood, Mathilde expresses her discontent with the tedious cycles of life, and documents her attempt to find meaning in the mundane.

Rachel Kirby

Rachel Kirby is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. Inspired by all kinds of music ranging from jazz to folk to rock, her music crosses borders between genres with the heaviest influences being alternative rock and pop. Her lyrics are extremely vulnerable as she reflects on her experiences with mental illness and personal relationships, illustrating an honest portrait of a flawed young woman, still figuring everything out. The echoey chambers that she creates within her songs can truly make one feel sucked into another world, allowing them to escape reality momentarily. These ambient and dark yet warm productions combined with her intricate and personal lyrics and uniquely deep, rich, and powerful voice create a deep emotional experience for the listener to sink into.
