About the Book
Change the Recipe is a collection of reflections, stories, and life lessons from renowned chef and humanitarian José Andrés. Rather than a traditional cookbook, the book blends memoir, philosophy, and social commentary to explore how food can transform communities and inspire meaningful change.
Drawing on his experiences as a chef, immigrant, entrepreneur, and founder of World Central Kitchen, Andrés shares personal anecdotes—from his childhood in Spain to building restaurants in the United States and responding to disasters around the world. Through these stories, he illustrates how cooking is not just about nourishment or flavor, but about compassion, creativity, and responsibility.
