A Members Evening Under the Stars
Free for Members. RSVP Required. Become a member to attend this exclusive event.
Join us for a special evening under the stars at Montpelier. Members are invited to gather on the grounds for an evening of stargazing, conversation, and discovery.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy telescope viewing, signature cocktails, light hors d’oeuvres, and time with Montpelier staff and fellow members. Members of the Charlottesville Astronomical Society will be on hand with telescopes and guidance for observing planets, constellations, and other celestial objects visible in the night sky.
Throughout the evening, guests can visit themed conversation tents that connect the night sky to Montpelier’s history and ongoing work. Topics include

Astronomy and the wonders of the night sky
Preservation and Archaeology at Montpelier
Montpelier’s Future
Families are welcome. Children can take part in a Night Sky Passport activity while adults enjoy refreshments, conversation, and observing the night sky.
The mansion will be closed during the event so guests can focus on the outdoor experience and the beauty of the night sky.
