Now those stories come alive at Elmwood Cemetery.
Join us for Memphis Music & Elmwood Cemetery: A Tour on Friday, June 12th at 6:00 pm, led by musician, historian, filmmaker, and author Willy Bearden. This guided walking tour explores the final resting places of the men and women who helped create the legendary Memphis sound.
As we move through Elmwood’s historic grounds, you will hear the stories of a big band legend, blues singers, horn players, producers, and other unforgettable figures. Their music will be played, their struggles and successes shared, and their lasting influence revealed. These are the artists who shaped American music and carried Memphis to the world.
This is more than a history lesson. It is a journey through rhythm, resilience, and raw talent, set among one of Memphis’s most beautiful and meaningful places.
