Description

These winter trainings are offered in response to recent loss within our community and our continued commitment to compassion, awareness, and support.

Mental Health First Aid

One in five adults in the U.S. experiences a mental health challenge each year. Mental Health First Aid is a three-year certification course that helps everyday people learn how to recognize the signs of mental health and substance use challenges and respond in a supportive, informed way.

This training is designed for parents, caregivers, faith leaders, educators, community members, and anyone who wants to help. You don’t need a clinical background—just a willingness to learn and care.

The virtual training includes:

  • A 2-hour self-paced online course, completed in advance
  • A 6-hour live, instructor-led Zoom session with discussion, real-life scenarios, and practical tools

Participants leave feeling more confident, more informed, and better prepared to support others and help save lives in their families, workplaces, and communities.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training

QPR is an evidence-based suicide prevention training that teaches participants how to recognize warning signs, ask direct questions, offer hope, and connect someone to help. Much like CPR for physical emergencies, QPR equips everyday people with life-saving skills they can use in moments that matter.

This training is designed for parents, caregivers, faith leaders, educators, community members, and anyone who wants to be prepared to respond to someone in crisis. No prior experience or clinical background is required.

The virtual QPR training is a live, instructor-led Zoom session that includes practical guidance, real-world examples, and time for questions and discussion. Participants leave with increased confidence, clearer language, and concrete steps for supporting someone who may be at risk of suicide.

GriefShare Support Group

Grief is a natural response to loss—but it can feel isolating, confusing, and overwhelming without support. GriefShare is a facilitated support group designed to help individuals navigate the emotional, spiritual, and practical realities of grief in a compassionate and structured environment.

This group is for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one—recently or in the past—and is seeking a safe space to process loss, find understanding, and move forward at their own pace. There is no timeline for grief and no pressure to “be okay.”

Each session includes guided discussion, reflection, and practical tools that help participants better understand their grief, normalize their experiences, and develop healthy coping strategies. Participants are encouraged—but never required—to share.

GriefShare is not about fixing grief.
It is about being supported while you carry it—together.

Participants often leave feeling less alone, more grounded, and better equipped to navigate life after loss.

Mastering Virtual Instruction: Teaching Successful Online Classes

Virtual learning is more than turning on a camera—it’s about creating connection, engagement, and clarity in a digital space. Mastering Virtual Instruction is a practical, skills-based course designed to help educators, trainers, faith leaders, and facilitators confidently design and deliver effective virtual classes.

This course equips participants with tools and strategies to create engaging online learning experiences, adapt in-person content for virtual delivery, and manage the unique dynamics of teaching through platforms like Zoom.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Understand virtual learning dynamics and create psychologically safe online spaces
  • Use Zoom and other virtual tools effectively to enhance participation
  • Increase engagement through interactive teaching strategies
  • Communicate clearly and confidently in a virtual environment
  • Adapt content, pacing, and facilitation styles for online audiences

The course is ideal for educators, trainers, ministry leaders, and professionals who are new to virtual teaching—or who want to strengthen their effectiveness and confidence online.

The training includes live instruction, demonstrations, discussion, and practical application. Participants leave with increased clarity, practical tools, and renewed confidence in their ability to lead impactful virtual learning experiences.
