Description

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Museum of Art + Light will host the remarkable Midnight in Málaga—a celebratory evening marking the public opening of Picasso: Art in Motion in its United States debut and its only home from May 2 – November 2, 2026, presented with authorization from the Picasso Administration.

While Picasso: Art in Motion serves as the centerpiece of the season, the evening also unveils three additional major exhibitions: EMULATION: Selections from the Art Blocks 500, showcasing pioneering generative digital works; Interference: The Interactive Art of Daniel Rozin, featuring immersive, technology-driven sculptures that respond to viewers in real time; and Picasso on Paper, an intimate exploration of works that reveal the artist’s hand, experimentation, and creative process.

Together, these four exhibitions position the Museum of Art + Light as a national destination for both historic and cutting-edge art. From Picasso’s revolutionary vision to contemporary algorithmic and interactive practices, Midnight in Málaga celebrates the full spectrum of artistic innovation—bridging early modern mastery with today’s digital frontier. Guests will experience an unforgettable evening inspired by Picasso’s birthplace and the vibrant cultural energy of Spain, while stepping into a bold new chapter for the Museum and the region.

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. as honored guests and internationally recognized artists gather throughout the Museum for curated exhibition showcases, signature cocktails, Spanish-inspired appetizers, live music, and an elegant silent auction. Special guests include visionary digital artists from Art Blocks, renowned kinetic sculptor Daniel Rozin, Barry Anderson, and representatives from Culturespaces STUDIO, Atelier des Lumières in Paris, and bitforms gallery—bringing together innovators from across the global contemporary art scene.

At 7:30 p.m., guests will take their place for the highly anticipated unveiling of Picasso: Art in Motion inside Mezmereyz Gallery 2. Surrounded by breathtaking floor-to-ceiling projections and synchronized sound, attendees will experience Picasso’s artistic evolution in a spectacular immersive format. The unveiling will be accompanied by a tapas-style dinner, a special evening program, and presentation of the Premio Vanguardia Award, honoring forward-thinking contributions to art and innovation.

The celebration continues at 9:00 p.m. with decadent sweets, coffee, and the passionate rhythms of live Flamenco dancing in the Atrium—an electrifying finale to an evening that blends tradition and avant-garde expression.

More than an extraordinary cultural experience, Midnight in Málaga is a signature fundraising event directly supporting the Museum of Art + Light’s educational and arts programming, safeguarding the permanent collection, and fueling the creation of future exhibitions that inspire audiences across the region and beyond.
