"With his expressive, lived-in voice, Mikey Sweet balances heartworn lyrics with just enough humor on engaging, deeply felt Americana tunes."- Eric Danton of The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, Pitchford, Salon and Paste Magazine

Mikey Sweet will be hosting a valley all-star tribute and posthumous release of the music of the late great Brian McCullough on January 21st at The Parlor Room in Northampton, MA. Brian McCullough was a songwriting legend in the Pioneer Valley and influenced many in his years in Northampton. Come and join us to celebrate the life and songs of this incredible talent. Valley artists on the bill include Topsy, Woodford Way, Jimmy Johnson, DJDP, and more. All sales from the album will go to benefit the Survival Center in Northampton, MA.

In 2016, singer-songwriter Mikey Sweet of West Springfield released a great album called “Road Dog Gospel.” The album received strong reviews and Sweet did many shows in support of the recording including some memorable local gigs.

If Road Dog Gospel” somehow slipped by you when it was originally released, now is your chance to check it out on a streaming platform such as Spotify. The album is a collection of honest folk-rock songs that deal with the musician’s life on the road and showcase Sweet’s ability to craft great story songs and deliver them in a strong voice that’s full of emotion. Influenced by songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen, songs like “Truth Hurts” and “Brick Wall” chronicle tough times, yet still have within them an element of hope.

The album has a great backstory in that Sweet raised money for the project by holding a handmade sign saying “Broke Musician Need Money to Finish Album w/Big Shot Producer and Hot Band! God Bless” while hitchhiking across the Northeast playing his music. It’s the kind of experience that helped fuel the songs that made “Road Dog Gospel” such a strong record.
