Long-time Minneapolis-based folk percussionist Mikkel Beckmen, who has collaborated with many musicians on stage and in the studio, including Charlie Parr, Mike Munson and Jeff Ray, has a new book out on Ramshackle Press entitled ‘Gifts of the Superior Hiking Trail”. The book is a collection of reflections on his solo thru hike of the trail. It includes illustrations by graphic artist Siri Marie and an illustrated postcard of Charlie Parr’s song 817 Oakland Avenue, with a link to the song.


Mikkel and Charlie Parr, who’s book ‘Last of the Better Days Ahead’ is now in its 3rd printing, will be reading from their books and playing some of the folk songs they have performed together over the past 25 years, as well as Charlie’s original material. This will be a unique listening room experience combining word and song.
