The conference will be taking place at the Hyatt Place Lansing East in Lansing, Michigan. 9am to 5pm ~~ Neonatal Resuscitation in a Community Based Setting taught by Julie Moon!

This is a full day in depth course for neonatal resuscitation. We begin by creating a safe space for
feelings like fear, grief or tension, and work towards creating curiosity and community.
Starting with skills of ventilation and ending with emergency IV treatment, each learner will
have plenty of hands-on practice. All aspects of NRP to include introduction of T-Piece
resuscitators and why they matter, EMS collaboration and transfer scenarios, trauma based
debriefing, and resuscitation in place. The afternoon is spent in drill scenarios where
learners rotate roles, demonstrate skills, build confidence and reflect on team performance.
Individual practice needs are developed and assessed with community focus. Equipment,
drills and setups unique to community birth settings drive the course. Our goal is for each
learner to feel confident with both ventilation and advanced skills, and we have found this
takes time to achieve.

Need Certification? Take the on - line exam ahead of time and bring your certificate. You will be sent information when you register and pay. EVERYONE WHO HAS REGISTERED SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THEIR INFO EMAIL FORWARDED FROM JULIE.

Need CEUs and not certification? We have applied for 8 CEUs for this day long class, and you do not need to take the on - line exam.

Friday LUNCH FOR NRP PARTICIPANTS:  There will be a half hour working lunch time, with box lunches available at the hotel for $12.75 + tax.  Orders must be placed by 4/20.  SEE IMAGE BELOW  and Send your order via email to treasurer@michiganmidwives.org.

Please note:  there will not be time to go out for lunch, and food cannot be brought in to the hotel.

1:00pm to 3pm: Peer Review~~ Facilitated by Jen Holshoe

3pm to 5pm: Metabolic Screen Q & A.  Lacey McKay, CMA, BS, Newborn Screening Operations Coordinator; Michele Fritz, MS, LVT-BSc,  BioTrust Coordinator.  Angie Aldrich, MSN, RN, Nurse Consultant. Bring your questions!

5:30pm to 6:00pm: VERA Q & A   with Brigit Pendred from the Registration Unit of Vital Records and Health Statistics.  Bring your questions!

Saturday, May 4th: 

 8:30am  ARRIVE.  Please be ready to start by 9am.

9am to 10:30am: Sarah Wilson, LM & Samantha Mishra DO, MPH ~~ CPMs and EMS Collaboration in the State of Michigan  1.5 CEUs applied for

11am - 12:30pm  Thomas Garries, RPH ~~ OTC Medications for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Mothers  1.5 CEUs applied for. This session meets the requirements for License Renewal ~ Pain and Symptom Management, and Pharmacology!

1pm - 2:00pm  LUNCH provided: salad station, sandwich station, sides of chips and fruit, potato salad, cookie, water, soft drinks and tea.

2:00pm - 3:00pm Business Meeting  

3:30pm - 5pm Julie Moon, CNM ~~ Considerations for Debriefing in a Community Birth Setting    1.5 CEUs applied for
