Description
Monarch Blitz
The event will be an exciting opportunity to join thousands of people from across Canada, the United States, and Mexico by participating in the 2026 International Monarch Monitoring Blitz! We’ll look for monarch butterflies and milkweed plants, examining them for eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalids. The Monarch Blitz data are then uploaded and shared via the Trinational Monarch Knowledge Network to assist researchers in answering key questions about Monarch butterflies and milkweed.
The Big Reveal
In early July, we invited you to submit creative names for our new seed drill, a specialized piece of equipment that helps establish the meadow habitats that monarch butterflies and other pollinators depend on. At the event, we will reveal the winning name, recognize the winner, and officially introduce the seed drill to the community.
Ontario Trillium Foundation
Finally, this event will celebrate the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s receipt of an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant that was used to establish the equipment library and purchase the seed drill that will help communities restore habitat for monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
Whether you participated in the contest, support pollinator conservation, or simply want to learn more about local habitat restoration projects, we’d love to see you there!
Please be advised that there are ticks on site so long pants and close toed shoes are recommended. Event will take place rain or shine! Please wear weather appropriate clothing.
