Description

MOVERS & MAKERS is an eight part choreographic workshop series that explores the art of choreography and movement invention. The workshop series invites individuals interested in the performing arts practices including dance, theatre, film, musical theatre, etc. The workshop is inclusive of all levels of experience and welcomes participants of diverse abilities.

Participants will be introduced to the art practices and methods incorporated by workshop instructors in creating movement in their respective disciplines; from live dance and theatre performances, dance in film, opera, to music videos.

The workshop series offer unique perspectives and approaches toward creating your own movement studies. It will culminate in a public sharing as part of NDH BLUEPRINT Performance Studies/Works In Progress. The series is co-curated by Robin Poitras and Marnie Gladwell. Guest teachers include Davida Monk, Edward Poitras, Johanna Bundon, Rania al-Harthi, and Arthur Milner.

“Arising from Movement I, Part 1 introduces a creative template that is flexible, layered and comprehensive, allowing participants of different levels to benefit according to their experience.”

- Davida Monk
