Born from the legacy of Miss First Nation, history is being made with the world premiere of the first Mr First Nation pageant in October 2026 as part of MELT Festival, Magandjin (Brisbane). This new platform celebrates the brilliance, power and diversity of Blak Kings nationwide. More than a competition, it's a celebration of creativity, culture, connection and community. More than just a runway moment, each ensemble is a powerful expression of identity, storytelling, and self-made swagger. Contestants will share the inspiration behind their looks and reflect on their journey into the world of drag king performance through candid interviews. Expect creative costumes, cultural pride, sharp character work, and plenty of charisma as these kings bring their stories to life on stage.

Step into a celebration of talent, creativity, and pure stage presence. This round challenges drag kings to showcase their skills beyond traditional drag performance, with everything from comedy and live vocals to dance, cabaret, storytelling, and unexpected specialty acts. With no lip-syncing allowed, it's all about originality, authenticity, and connecting with the audience. Whether they're making you laugh, moving you to tears, or leaving you in awe, these kings prove that drag is an art form with endless possibilities. Expect charisma, confidence, and unforgettable performances from some of the most exciting talent around.

Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s home for contemporary culture, a magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River.
As Brisbane City Council’s premier arts venue, the much-loved building stages more than 1250 performances a year including a program of festivals, as well as hundreds of events and functions from weddings to conferences, all the while housing heritage-listed graffiti, riverside bars and restaurants, visual arts exhibitions and of course the stories of all who have ventured, laughed and shared memories within its living walls.
