Description

This introductory stained glass workshop will teach you to cut and shape glass, and how to use the copper foil method and a soldering iron. Learn the basic steps involved in making Stained Glass and get hands-on experience as you help craft a design including local fruits, veggies, and flowers. We'll craft in community to create an installation for East Side Neighborhood Services' Community Garden.

No experience necessary! This community build is intended for participants 15 to 100 years old.

Please Note: Participants will not "make & take" a personal stained glass piece, unless they've selected that particular full-price ticket. Instead, they'll help to create a feature window for MTL's  Philanthropic Community Build for East Side Neighborhood Services - a garden stand and sharing space for produce, community news, and more. The discounted member and guest ticket prices reflect the nature of the service project, and helps contributes toward material costs and expertise.

Instructor Lisa Schwartz was introduced to Stained Glass about 44 years ago. She has made hundreds of windows and plenty of mistakes along the way... and loves teaching and sharing her craft with others.  She recently went to Cameroun to complete several large installations (window walls 36 feet long by 8 feet high) and teach local craftspeople.  She also regularly teaches the art of stained glass through community education and local folk schools.
