Try Rocky Mountain Clay!

Come experiment with 5 awesome mid-range clays from Rocky Mountain Clay in this hands-on clay play session! Jill from Rocky Mountain Clay will be here to answer all your clay questions. Learn more about their local storefront where these clays, tools, glazes and more!

How It Works:

  • Read about the different clay bodies below and choose your favorites, a total of 3 lb.

  • Reserve for a one-hour time slot on Saturday, June 6. Choose wheel or handbuilding. Select your clays when checking out.

  • On event day, meet us at the studio. We'll direct you to a wheel or handbuilding spot.

  • Get expert tips from Jill and learn about all Rocky Mountain has to offer.

  • Leave your pieces with us. We'll fire them with clear glaze at no extra cost.

Available Clays:

You will pre-register your clay choices when checking out. Clay is partitioned into 1-lb. balls. Choose any combination of 3 lbs. of the clays listed below:

Speckled Brown Trout
A toasty, medium brown color with varying speckles throughout. Looks lovely both glazed or unglazed. This clay is truly a pleasure to work with in all forms.

Flagstone
Our most popular dark mid-fire clay with great results in both thrown functional ware and sculptural pieces. Versatile use with an outstanding medium red-brown color.

Quarry
A course, oatmeal colored clay used for handbuilding and sculptural projects. It displays its grog with a beautiful, slight grain variation throughout.

Chestnut
Like the name describes, this clay fires a warm, rich, nutty brown color. Excellent handling and firing properties. Suitable for throwing and sculptural ceramic projects and looks beautiful glazed or unglazed.

Special 5th clay, unique to event:(will add here before opening registration)
