Looking for a little murder and mayhem? Take a trip through the darker side of Troy’s history on a lantern lit tour that explores true stories of murder, disasters, and every manner of mayhem that graced the city’s streets. See the site of Troy’s first gallows, hear tales of the Veiled Murderess, and learn of unsolved cases like the Hazel Drew Murders all on a tour through the downtown. Join us for the original Troy historic horror tour.

If you are using a Museum Pass from the Library, please register in advance here. Select the option "Library Museum Pass" for your ticket.  You will not be charged for a ticket or any fees. You must present the Museum Pass when checking in for the tour.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online or in the museum's gift shop. Please call the Museum at 518-272-7232 with questions or for assistance.

Before registering, please note the following:

  • The tour’s content is best suited for ages 12 and up.

  • This tour is 90 minutes and covers 1.5 miles through downtown Troy on occasionally uneven sidewalk terrain. Walking shoes and weather-appropriate attire are advised.

    • Guests should be comfortable walking and potentially standing for extended periods of time.

    • HCM strongly values accessibility, and we will do our best to provide accommodations as needed. Please let museum staff know either ahead of time or at any point during the tour if accommodations are required for you or your party.

  • This tour will leave AND end at the Hart Cluett Museum, 57 Second Street Troy, NY.

    • Limited street parking is available.

  • The Hart Cluett Museum provides all walking tour participants with headsets, allowing each visitor to listen to the tour guide at their preferred volume. Please note that while you may use or bring your own earpieces/earbuds, single use earpieces will also be provided by the Hart Cluett Museum at time of tour.

 

Cancellation Policy as of April 28, 2024:
Refunds or exchanges for ticketed tours and programs must be requested no fewer than 5 days prior to the program date. A $2.30 processing fee per ticket will be charged for refunds.
