What Is This Evening About?
“My Accent Is My Power” is a storytelling and connection evening for immigrants, newcomers, and anyone who has ever had to start over.
Your accent is not something to hide.
It is proof that you were brave enough to leave something behind and build something new.
This night is about sharing:
• Your first day in Canada / or in a new city within Canada
• The moment you felt lost
• The struggle no one saw
• The funniest culture shock
• The dream that kept you going
You can speak.
Or you can simply listen.
Both are welcome.
The Purpose
Moving to a new country is not just a change of address.
It is a change of identity.
Of language.
Of comfort.
Of everything familiar.
We carry heavy suitcases - not just with clothes, but with hopes, fears, expectations, and responsibility.
This evening exists to celebrate that courage.
To remind you that your accent is not weakness.
It is resilience.
When we share our stories, we stop feeling like outsiders — and start feeling like community.
What to Expect
