The collage is called “After You: Lurlynn and Lurline” My mother named me after her. My mother passed away from heart disease in the 90’s. On reflection, to compose this piece, I focused on things that I inherited from her in life.: My eclectic sense of color, my love for pattern and my fashion taste. She was a kind of extremist and things were not always easy with Momma, but what some people would characterize as “excessive” and “too much”, in terms of my talent and work ethic, ( and yes, at times my personality) I have slowly learned to fully embrace and celebrate those traits/her gift.
