Description

Atlantis is not the only drowned city. There is also Ys, now only haunted waves and stories told at night.

Legend tells of a breathtaking city built at the edge of the sea, protected only by a great wall and a single golden key. It was a city of wealth, beauty, and pleasure, ruled by a grieving king and his fierce, arrogant daughter. One night the sea came in. By morning it was all gone, but for the stories.

Join storyteller Laura Packer for an evening with the Breton legend of Ys, a tale of love and loss, desire and destruction, faith and flood, and a city that still rings its bells beneath the waves. Hear how pride built a city and one hungry choice brought it all crashing down.

This is myth the way it was meant to be heard: aloud, together, and worth remembering.

Please note that this concert is not appropriate for people under 16. Grief, sexuality, death by drowning.

A 45-60 minute storytelling concert, followed by live Q&A.
A resource sheet on the history, variations, and lasting influence of the Ys legend is available for purchase.
