Description
The Emperor Jones launched the careers of playwright Eugene O'Neill and Actor Charles Gilpin. Gilpin was among the first Black Americans to lead a Broadway drama, but his tangling with O'Neill over the N word and his changing of lines in the show led to his downfall. As O'Neill's career and opportunities grew, Gilpin's shrank. See the story as Gilpin, his wife, and O'Neill must contend with the show that they built together but tore them apart.
The show is co-produced by Impact Theatre Atlanta & the Academy Theatre and is directed by Brenda Porter.
