Description

Did you know the European Honeybee is not pollinating your early spring crops and fruit trees in Northern Idaho? Northern Idaho is home to almost 600 native, hive-less bees and we invite you to learn how to raise three species that provide these services. The Spring Blue Orchard Mason Bee, Summer mason bee, and the Summer Leaf Cutter Bee are docile, non-aggressive, and safe for families and pets (no venom for those with allergies). Learn to build and place CORRECT nesting sites and create habitats for these and other native pollinators, as well as how to grow more food with native bees. We will teach you which products and "bee houses" to avoid spending your money on (many items in stores aren't healthy for our native pollinators). This class is followed in the fall by our FREE Cocoon Harvest Parties where you learn what to with your baby bees each fall to protect them from pests and predators (sign up separately for the harvest party in the fall).
