Description
In celebration of Black History Month, three African-American women from St. Augustine share their stories about “persisting” and overcoming obstacles in pursuit of their goals. The speakers are Cynthia Garris, City Commissioner, St. Augustine; Robin Thomas, Executive Director, Compassionate St. Augustine; and Nola D. Oracle, CEO, Diaspora Film Productions. Their stories are different and the obstacles unique. Like Elizabeth Warren, US Senator from Massachusetts, who continued speaking at the confirmation hearing in 2017 for Jeff Sessions’ nomination for Attorney General after being told to stop, these women too “nevertheless, persisted.”
Lunch precedes the program, catered by Food for the Soul Cooking and Catering. Free parking is available at the venue and at the Main Library.
