Description
On 1st April, fire performers from Nottingham and beyond converge on Gnome Roundabout, Nottingham Road, right on the Nottinghamshire–Derbyshire border, for a full-throttle blow-out where sparks fly and the night comes alive. As dusk falls, the air fills with heat, rhythm and anticipation - this is fire performance at its most raw and exhilarating.
Expect blazing staffs spinning in perfect arcs, fire fans blooming like molten flowers, poi tracing glowing patterns through the dark, and bursts of flame erupting in time with pounding beats. Performers push skill and stamina, blending precision with wild energy, while the fire itself becomes both instrument and partner. The smell of fuel, the roar of ignition, the crackle of flame - it’s visceral, elemental and impossible to ignore.
There’s a carnival edge to the night too. Laughter, shared stories, playful rivalries and the unmistakable buzz of performers feeding off one another’s creativity. You might see new routines tested for the first time, daring combinations attempted, or spontaneous collaborations sparked by the moment.
It’s part gathering, part celebration, part beautiful chaos - a one-night collision of fire, movement and community. On April 1st expect heat, spectacle and a night that burns itself into memory long after the flames die down.
