Fire Safety, Prevention, and Resilience with Jordan Pollack

Suggested donation: $10

This program is being offered for either in-person attendance (limited to 20 and requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination) or virtual attendance via a livestream link. Recordings of the program will be sent to all registered participants.

Join Jordan Pollack for a conversation about fire safety, prevention, and resilience.

Join Jordan Pollack for a discussion of fire prevention and safety practices in the home, including how to make your home and other structures more fire resistant to wildfire. Using the nationally accepted “Firewise” and “Ready, Set, Go” programs, Jordan will discuss how to harden structures from encroaching wildfires and ensure sufficient non-flammable spaces are maintained.

Since his start in 1978 on the Olympic National Forest, Jordan has worked for both the US Forest Service and National Park Service in hand crews, engines, and helicopters most summer fire season. His last years working major fires with the USFS until 2015 were as an Engine Strike Team or Task Force Leader. Mr. Pollack joined the fire service in 1980, working his way upward to training officer and now fire chief since 1998. A fire service instructor since 1983, Jordan coordinates a cadre of instructors delivering fire and medical courses around the Pacific Northwest. As one of the premiere wildland firefighting training cadres, they work with numerous fire departments through the spring each year. He serves as Fire Chief of the Breitenbush Fire Department in the mountains of central Oregon and is a Regional Representative for Firefighters Crossing Borders in Mexico.

Jordan’s presentation style is lively and engaging, providing valuable information that can save homes.
