ABOUT THE BAVARIAN TEXAS BAND:
The first visit of the Bavarian Texas Band was in 1986 to celebrate the Texas Sesquicentennial at the Alamo as well as marching in the Governor's Parade in Austin. Since then, the Band has expanded its reach with tours to various military bases and venues throughout Texas and the United States. The musicians come primarily from the districts of Memmingen and Mindelheim, located in southwest Bavaria. Under the direction of Martin Wegele and conductor Sepp Felix, the Band will first go to Glendale AZ, Memmingen's Sister City, where they will play three performances. They then continue by car to Wichita Falls TX for an Oktoberfest performance at Sheppard Air Force Base. Additional performances include a brewery in Wichita Falls, a concert in Round Top TX, and they'll close out their tour with a concert in Houston at the German Consulate General's commemoration of German Unity Day followed by this concert hosted by Houston-Leipzig Sister City and The Houston Saengerbund. In addition to the performances, the musicians will have the opportunity to explore local sights on excursions.
