Description

In this presentation, you’ll discover how Isaac J. Collins, a young man from Salisbury, Maryland, with only a modest education, turned a love for glassmaking into a global success story. You'll learn how his determination and vision led to the founding and growth of Anchor Hocking, a company that would go on to manufacture and sell products around the world. As we celebrate Anchor Hocking’s 120th anniversary, you’ll gain insight into the entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and leadership that built one of the world's leading names in glassware — a legacy that still endures today.

Michael Shook is a Lancaster, Ohio native, Ohio University alum, and U.S. Air Force veteran with service in Korea and Vietnam. He spent 37 years at Anchor Hocking, retiring as Director of New Product Development, and held design and leadership roles at Federal Glass, Kerr Glass, and Wheaton Glass. A holder of multiple glass design patents, Michael has managed global projects and traveled extensively for international business. In retirement, he launched a successful consulting firm and has served on the Ohio Glass Museum Board for 14 years, including a term as Board President, where he led major expansions and the museum’s building acquisition. Michael continues to serve as an active board member and dedicated community volunteer.
