Dark Hollow

There’s nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.” Those old bumper stickers have seen a lot of mileage over the years. It was in the spirit of creating in the moment - the live concert experience, and a love of ‘The Great American Songbook’ that inspired the founding members of Dark Hollow to set out on their journey back in 1996. They’ve sought to carry on the Dead’s live tradition and tap into the collective band/crowd relationship that transforms ordinary moments into magic.

Dark Hollow is now entering their 25th year paying tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead. Known for their dynamic performances, the band crafts songs from the extensive Dead family catalog to create unique concert experiences. Their ability to move seamlessly between songs and musical styles enables them to tell a musical story that both honors the original song versions and allows the band members to create new interpretations. And when the special moments arrive, they aim to elevate the room and lift your collective feet off the ground. To tap into the energy between the band and the audience.

Anchored by founding members Mike Vincitore (Lead Guitar) and Mike O’Hara (Lead Vocals/Guitar), the band includes Jeff Roney (Drums), Pat Shaughnessy (Keys), Jack Jarvis (Drums), Mike Vertino (Bass)  and Mike Hamilton (Rhythm Guitar). Performances will often include guests from the band’s large network of fellow musicians. The band’s strong musical chemistry and individual talents set the backdrop for powerful vocal performances, soaring guitar and keyboard leads, backed by a powerful and versatile rhythm section that sets the groove.

The band has performed on bills with Moe., Melvin Seals and Terrapin Flyer, Vince Welnick, New Riders of The Purple Sage, Donna Jean Godchaux, and many more. They have self-produced a variety of standalone and themed concert events, including recent partnerships with Critz Farms and Sharkey’s in Central New York. They have and continue to work with venue promoters to create and participate in unique music events.

Organ Fairchild

Jam scene mainstays Joe Bellanti, Corey Kertzie and Dave Ruch met in 1983 as members of Buffalo NY Grateful Dead cover band “Wild Knights,” a group that still plays reunion shows to this day. But it wasn’t until early 2020 that they wrote their first original music together, this time as three-piece instrumental organ trio/funky jam band Organ Fairchild.

“Fiery, passionate and deeply musical”  - Jeff Miers, The Buffalo News

The debut gig was just a month before COVID shutdowns, but the horse was out of the barn and the response was immediate!

Highlights of the band’s short life to date include:

Voted New York’s top emerging band (out of 64 bands)

Appeared on the mainstage at Borderland Music + Art Festival (Jason Isbell, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, TAUK, The Revivalists), Rochester’s Lilac Festival (w/ Anders Osborne and Jackie Greene) and Lincoln Hill Farms (w/ Andy Frasco and the U.N.)

Club dates across the northeast with Melvin Seals and JGB, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Sophistafunk and many others

Headlined their own shows and regional festivals

Worldwide release of the debut album “Brewed in Buffalo” (Fall 2021)

Landed on the Radio Charts Top 30 List

Individually, these veteran musicians have played with (not in support of) Bob Weir, Rob Wasserman, Robbie Krieger (The Doors), Nels Cline, Tony Rice, moe., Oteil Burbridge, Steve Kimock, Keller Williams, Strangefolk, Gibb Droll, Big Leg Emma, Juggling Suns and more.

“Three long-time veterans of the jam scene”  - Grateful Web

But since 2020, they’ve been joined together in the pursuit of groovy tunes and juicy jams in a high-powered organ trio format.
