Description

Ragazzi Boys Chorus presents an awe-inspiring program for its spring concert, entitled Our Sacred Earth. Led by Artistic and Executive Director Kent Jue, Ragazzi Boys Chorus’ Concert Group, Choral Scholars, and Young Men’s Ensemble will perform this program of stunning song at 4pm PDT Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Mission Santa Clara, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara.

Our Sacred Earth features a resplendent repertoire that celebrates the beauty of Earth that can be found in nature as well as the diverse cultural backgrounds that form our community. Among the works offered by Ragazzi’s Concert Group and Choral Scholars is a new work commissioned by Ragazzi titled “A Jelly-Fish” by Bay Area composer Eric Tuan, who serves as Artistic Director of Piedmont East Bay Children’s Chorus. Ragazzi is proud to advocate for and perform new music from local Bay Area composers. Also featured will be Ling Ting Tam’s “Magnificent Horses,” an evocative adaptation of a Mongolian folk song and Kirby Shaw’s arrangement of Paul Simon’s classic ballad, “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Young Men’s Ensemble’s program includes Jonaf del Fierro’s arrangement of “Iddemdem Malida,”a Filipino folk song; an expressive arrangement of the Scottish folk song “Loch Lomond” by Jonathan Quick; and Sarah Quartel’s “Sing, My Child.”

Finally, all ensembles will join together to sing “Sacred Stepping Stones” by Australian-born Lisa Young. Ragazzi is hoping to sing for Young in a workshop setting later this summer as part of our summer tour to Australia.
