Tate House Museum is hosting a series of three illustrated presentations this summer on Wednesdays in the backyard of the Tate House. Lectures will be on August 4, August 25, and September 15 and will begin at 7:30 PM. In the advent of rain, the lecture will be held the day after, on Thursdays Aug 5, Aug 26, and Sept 16.
Tickets are $15 per person for the general public and $12 for Tate House Museum members. All three lectures can be purchased as a package for $35 (general) and $30 (members).
This is an outdoor lecture so please bring a lawn chair or blanket for open seating. The backyard can be cooler or breezy in the evenings so please plan accordingly.
August 4 “A Postcard History of Portland and the Stroudwater Neighborhood” with Libby Bischof, Professor of History at USM and Executive Director of the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education.
Aug 25 “In Mind and Memory: the Remarkable Will of Quash, a Black Man in Eighteenth-Century Topsham” with James Tanzer, Independent Researcher
Sept 15 “Pinus Portlandus: How the Eastern White Pine Put the Forest City on the Map” with Author Andrew Vietze.
