Description
Learn how to make sheets of paper from recycled textile materials and raw fibers used in textile processing. Paper has been made from used clothing, textile scraps and recycled materials for hundreds of years. Students will learn how to form sheets of paper from different base pulps adding textile materials to create texture, color and add visual and tactile interest. Working on professional-grade tools and equipment, students will gain experience with fiber preparation, forming sheets, pressing and drying paper, as well as view a working Hollander beater. Participants can expect to make a small stack of handmade paper suitable printing, painting and drawing, book arts and crafts.
