$75 for Italian Pasta Workshop with family style pasta meal (Paul Cullen wine and other beverages available for purchase). 

You can make pasta anywhere if you have flour and some sort of liquid. For Northern Italian pasta, that liquid is eggs.  This workshop is about sheeting and cutting pasta dough into classic “long” shapes, such as fettucine, tagliatelle, and linguine.   This is a hands-on pasta workshop.

Bring your appetite!! Complimentary focaccia and dessert are included in the workshop!

The Workshop: 

  • Chef Frank will demonstrate how to mix Northern Style pasta dough using flour and eggs and describe the featured sauce for the evening
  • Chef Frank will demonstrate how to sheet and cut pasta lunga – “long pasta” such as fettucine, linguine, tagliatelle, and pappardelle
  • Each participant will get a pre-made dough ball to sheet and cut under Chef supervision.

 What you will learn:

 The proper way to mix and knead pasta

  • Correct ratios of flour and eggs to make perfect pasta every time
  • How to sheet and cut pasta using manual pasta machines.  You will also learn how to hand-cut sheeted pasta.
  • The benefits of pasta water
  • Proper cooking and storing techniques

 How this works:

 Chef Frank will bring ALL the necessary equipment and food products for the hands-on workshop.

  • Participants will make their own pasta from pre-made dough
  • A pairing sauce will be provided to enjoy with your cooked pasta.
  • If applicable, parents and grandparents should assist small children, which makes for a great interactive experience.  Chef Frank will assist where necessary.
  • We then enjoy our pasta in a family style meal!  Paul Cullen wine is available for sale at the event.
  • Chef Frank will supply a focaccia and a surprise dessert for all to enjoy at the end of the workshop.

Paul Kares is a nonprofit organization whose mission is dedicated to educating aspiring chefs or musicians, focusing on kids and young adults who show interest and passion for culinary and musical arts. Paul Kares will weave together how these passions could be the foundation for life-long career for young people who are not necessarily college-bound and how they can hone their skills to be a personal chef, sommelier, performer, or all the above. Plus, Paul Kares will get them the tools like musical instruments, knives, etc for the students who can’t afford them and will donate to school systems that need equipment for their classrooms.
