Banana Block is a new living museum and events space set within a historic linen mill and inspired by the curious connections between Belfast and bananas. Peel the banana a little further and you’ll find a space for original ideas, creative learning and new connections. A space for celebrating eccentric histories and creating incredible futures.
Description
“A collective moment of dialogue, performance, and oppression”
In this performance session, the participants are going to be performers! The aim is not to focus on performing for a secondary audience, but rather trying to see how the performers/participants can be affected by what they do, see, hear, and feel.
We are all going to be a participant/spect-actor!
Everyone is welcome to join this session of creation, imagination, and performance! Our artist in residence, Omid Kheirabadi is going to take you on a performative journey where everyone gets the chance to be activated ‘performatively’. This workshop is going to be abstractly based on the work of Brazilian theater maker Augusto Boal “The Theater of Oppressed” and concerning Omid’s artistic research questions: How can performance art influence the performers in their struggle against oppression of global capitalism? What kinds of gestures, performing moments and mutual connectivities can help us to liberate ourselves?
