Introducing "Gods Of The Unknown" a tarot themed burlesque and variety production inspired by the artwork of Peter Harris!
About the event:
The Wax Poetry Revue burlesque and variety troupe is collaborating to create living interpretations of a Tarot archetypes - from a deck illustrated by prolific local artist Peter Harris. The event will include an on-site Tarot reader (Katey Finley), offering services free of charge for ticket holders. Katey is an enthusiast of cartomancy and mysticism, and has been a student of tarot and other forms of divination for 15+ years.
About The Wax Poetry Revue:
Founded in 2019, The Wax Poetry Revue is a collective of visual and conceptual performance artists dedicated to thought provoking, and avant-garde burlesque and circus features.
About Peter Harris:
This year Peter is working with local artists on collaborative works that include sculpture, video, and conceptual pieces. His subject matter regularly focuses on philosophical themes told through cartoonish vignettes, storybook illustrations or allegorical scenes. Art history, particularly stemming from post renaissance artists, thoughts from continental philosophers, and the incorporation of color all fall into his work. "Recurrence" is a major theme he tends toward, where he aims to create works that showcase mediums, and process further in mediums. Primary: Acrylic, Oil, Graphite, Ink, Watercolor, Gauche, Wood, Found, Digital. He enjoys a heavy redraft process with multiple iterations on each theme/subject in various mediums.
The Hybrid Gallery lounge will be providing themed craft cocktail specials to add to this unique experience.
Doors at 7pm, Showtime at 8pm
$20 advance, $25 day of show
