Dearly beloved…our dear local theatre, The Magnetic, is slain in her prime by the rent and the rain. We tried to resuscitate her but she just wouldn’t have it, and is now gone on to her eternal reward. We shall miss her and all the weird, weird stuff she shared with us over the years. In honor of the joy, dismay, renewal, revulsion, and artistic growth that we found together within her walls, we are hosting a funeral for our departed theatre. This event will not be all macabre, however! From the ruins of The Magnetic shall be born a project anew; fresh as a daisy and primed to carry on The Magnetic’s commitment to bring new works to life.
Dress in your funerary best and join us at a private residence on November 8, 2025 from 2-5pm for a joint funeral & baby shower full of food, fun, music and a floor show celebrating what is past and looking forward to the new. In lieu of flowers or gifts, tickets are $10 and all funds will go directly to the birth of the new company!
The Phantom Lamp Theatre Company is dedicated to collaborative storytelling and fostering new work by local artists.
Here is some important information:
Park at 500 Riverview Church Road, Asheville. There will be signs/ balloons, and parking is in a field below the concrete driveway. There’s a short walk down a path to the event, just past the barn.
