Philly Sketchfest was created in 2008 to celebrate sketch comedy in the City of Brotherly Love. Over the years, Philly Sketchfest has brought some of the best sketch comedians to Philadelphia. In addition to live shows, Philly Sketchfest also produces a podcast, My First Sketch, hosted by Josh Higham, available wherever you get your podcasts.
Description
Philly Sketchfest presents The RENs and DC Raclette Club, both from Washington, DC!
The RENs are a dynamic collective delivering bold, original, character-driven comedy for the culture. Their sketches blend sharp writing, electric timing, and infectious energy. They’re poking fun at society, pop culture, and the everyday tropes we all know too well. Pieces like “The Squabble”, a playful twist on classic game shows, showcase their ability to entertain while making you think and reminisce. If In Living Color had a Millennial baby, CPS should’ve been called immediately – cuz these kids be wildn’. Outside of the District, The RENS have performed at comedy festivals such as the Denver Sketch Festival and Sketchfest Chicago.
First and foremost, DC Raclette Club is cheesy. Like the savory Swiss cheese from which they are named, they are rich, warm and best enjoyed with laughter. Inspired by acts like Mitchell & Webb, Aunty Donna, and Kids in the Hall, the trio of Andy, Isabelle and Sara bring big characters that celebrate queer identity and joy. Are they all friends? Lovers? Maybe two of them are married and the third is a best friend? Watch this Washington, DC-based group and see if you can figure it out.
