Description

Odo Nyera Fie Kwan translates to Love Never Loses Its Way Home in Twi (a language spoken in Ghana). Phoenix Amadi defines Home as a place where serenity, nourishment, and belonging are always readily available. Through their studies as a somatic coach and trauma informed yoga instructor Phoenix seeks to cultivate an internal sense of home within themself and the communities they serve.  As a part of the Odo Nyera Fie Kwan event series, the Odo Somatic Sound bath is a space to drop into your internal world and connect to the wisdom in the waters of your body. Through guided journaling, gentle somatic movement, and healing sound Odo Sound Bath is an invitation to return to self with open curiosity trusting that your inner waters will lead you home.

Phoenix Amadi is a featured artist in the (a)mending, (at)tending group exhibition, which runs from April 16 through May 23 at Coil & Cord Studio.

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is encouraged and donations are appreciated.

Phoenix Amadi is a Brooklyn born multifaceted artist. Their relationship to the arts is a practice of self discovery, facilitating communal healing, and conjuring the divine. They are a singing writing folk artist with a budding passion for textile arts. Drawing inspiration from the wisdom of nature, Phoenix processes themes of queerness, African diasporic experience, relationships and memory through their work. Their current project Odo Nyera Fie Kwan is in pursuit of collective healing guided by the Spirit of water. By weaving through and on found objects Phoenix constructs a bridge to retrieve relational wisdom. The piece itself is just as much about the physical manifestation of their work as it is about the intentional gatherings that happen in its presence. Sound baths, art builds, grief circles, song circles, somatic explorations, and curated artist nights, all held with the intention of igniting embodied remembrance of the ancient practices of harmony. Odo Nyera Fie Kwan is an ever-changing portal into the inner unknown. A ritual call to derive ancestral wisdom from the depths of the oceanic collective subconscious. Odo Nyera Fie Kwan means  "Love never loses its way home" and in this way, it is a compass leading the pathway home.
