Students will leave the class with a completed print on fabric and the knowledge of how to make cyanotypes to add to personal creative practice.

The overall goal for this workshop is to empower students with the knowledge and skills to create beautiful cyanotype prints to then utilize the cyanotype process in their personal artistic endeavors. At the top of the class you will learn some of the fascinating scientific and artistic history of cyanotype as a medium and be able to connect your creativity to a legacy of scientists and artists who have worked with this process. Students will then watch a short demonstration of fundamental printing techniques including mixing the chemistry, exposure and development logistics, and personal anecdotes regarding the trial and error of experimenting with cyanotype prints. Finally students will be provided practice materials to work on printing techniques before moving on to creating a final print on fabric. Students should leave with all the fundamental skills to create a cyanotype print on paper or fabric.
