Description

For our next summer production with our high school students, Break a Leg Theater Works proudly presents Pippin. With an infectiously unforgettable score from four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theater giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man's journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this iconic musical recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues to captivate and appeal to the young at heart throughout the world.

Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the treacherous battlefield, the temptations of humankind and the intrigues of political power. In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.

This timeless piece and Pippin's exploration for fulfillment  is universal and will connect with audiences across the age spectrum. Our production is choreographed by Broadway legend and BAL staple, Thayne Jasperson. This is Thaynes 3rd production with BAL. Thayne can also be seen on Broadway 8 times a week in Hamilton as well as the film on Disney+. Not only has Thayne been with Hamilton since its inception, where nightly he plays the role of Samuel Seabury, he also was an original cast member of Matilda, the Musical, as well as Disney’s Newsies on Broadway. Thayne was featured on the hit show So You Think You Can Dance, and can also be seen in the High School Musical 1 & 2 movies. This past November, Thayne was part of the original Off-Broadway cast of “Only Gold.” We are so honored that he’ll be joining us directly from Broadway on selected days off for this production.

Join us for another summer of amazing memories, and extraordinary times.
