Description
Pirate Queens: A Dance Odys-Sea weaves history and legend to tell the stories of women who chose the sea to claim power, freedom, and destiny. Through dance, poetry, music, and imagery, our Asheville School dancers harness their creativity to explore identity, solidarity, transformation, and the ocean’s enduring pull. From Ireland to Morocco, the Viking North to the Caribbean and the South China Sea, female pirates shaped their own lives—some in disguise, others ruling openly with strategy and force. This original collaboration blends myth and modern music, featuring the professional band Breakfast for Dinner along with our student musicians, poets, and dancers. We invite the adventurer within you to join us on an unforgettable voyage across cultures, centuries, and the open sea.
This production is open to the public and accessible for all ages. Showtimes are at 7PM.
