J.T. Turner's “Robert Frost Light and Dark” comes to The Plainfield Opera House on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 4:00 PM

 

This highly-praised original one-man show brings America’s beloved poet to life as he relates the tragedy as well as the humor behind Frost’s work, along with his most popular poems, including Mending Wall, Birches, Nothing Gold Can Stay, Late Walk, Desert Places, Road Not Taken, and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. This show is a remarkable and intimate journey through the Pulitzer Prize winning poet’s life, set in the Vermont cabin he called home. The show, which runs 70 minutes with no intermission, has delighted filled-to-capacity audiences for more than a decade. Don’t miss your chance to see it in Plainfield this Spring!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

J.T. Turner is an award-winning professional actor, director, and writer, with credits on stage, screen, and audio. A member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity, J.T. tours theaters, museums, schools, and libraries in his original shows about Frost, Franklin, Shakespeare, Dickens, Aesop, Washington Irving, C.S. Lewis & more. He was founder of moonlight productions, a company dedicated to using theater for positive youth development, and is Director of The Actors Company. J.T. is also a professional fight choreographer, circus ringmaster, and acting, public speaking and Qigong teacher.

The Plainfield Town Hall Opera House is a modest-sized, affordable venue, with a capacity of 240 people (including a balcony that holds 45).

It is available to host all kinds of events – opera, theater, lectures, dances, movies, weddings, meetings, and other special events. It is valued for its excellent acoustic qualities and for the ambiance created by its high, tin-clad ceilings and walls, its hardwood floor, tall sash windows, proscenium stage, and red velvet curtains.

The building is owned and maintained by the town of Plainfield and is managed by the non-profit “Friends of the Plainfield Town Hall Opera House” (FTHOH), an organization of volunteers dedicated to keeping the arts and community alive and thriving in Plainfield and the surrounding region.
