Description
Few holiday traditions beat settling in for Planes, Trains and Automobiles over Thanksgiving weekend.
John Hughes’ 1987 comedy follows uptight marketing executive Neal Page (Steve Martin) as he tries to make it home to Chicago for the holiday, only to be saddled with Del Griffith (John Candy), a well-meaning, endlessly chatty shower-curtain-ring salesman, as his travel companion. What begins as a simple flight turns into a disastrous cross-country odyssey of cancelled flights, wrong-way trains, burned-out rental cars, and shared motel beds. It’s equally hilarious and unexpectedly moving, a reminder that the people who drive us crazy can end up being the ones we’re most grateful for. Whether it’s your yearly ritual or your first time, it’s the perfect companion to leftovers and a full stomach.
