Description

About the Course: Improv for writing will help participants to utilize improvisation for the generation of writing ideas, with the goal of creating a piece of scripted theatre, whether devised by a group of co-authors or done as a solo creative artist. 

Instructor: Katie Jones is a founding member of Phantom Lamp Theatre Company. She was formerly Co-Artistic Director of The Magnetic Theatre and her Asheville credits include work with the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival, Asheville Creative Arts, the Asheville Improv Festival and Immediate Theatre Project. Katie is also a member of improv troupes Family Dinner, Secret Spice, Keeping Up with the Joneses, and the Law Firm of Richardson, Stobbe and Jones. She is on faculty at The Misfit School of Improv and Acting and has taught theatre courses at Catawba Valley Community College and Brevard College. Katie is also a member of Wishbone Theatre Collective, with whom she has created several theatrical projects using improv as a basis for writing. 

Requirements: Please bring a writing utensil, a notebook and a water bottle, and be sure to wear clothing that you’re comfortable moving in.
