Description

Class Description

This class explores how improvisers can confidently handle pop culture–based suggestions—whether they fully understand them, partially recognize them, or have no idea what they mean. Students will learn techniques to play truthfully, avoid panic, and turn ignorance into a strength, while still delivering clear, funny scenes.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the class, students will be able to:

  • Respond confidently to pop culture references they don’t recognize
  • Translate unfamiliar references into playable emotional or relational ideas
  • Heighten scenes using status, tone, and archetype rather than accuracy
  • Use group intelligence to support pop culture-heavy scenes
  • Avoid derailing scenes with apologies, explanations, or pop culture insecurity
