Por Nosotras Comemos is an intimate mother-daughter dance-theater experience inside Taquería El Vaporcito in Phoenix. Choreographer Ruby Morales and her mother, Miriam Zavala, transform the restaurant into a living altar of memory, migration, and matriarchal love—blending cumbia, breaking, original music, and family stories passed down through four generations of powerful women.
Por Nosotras Comemos will embody Ruby’s mother’s multiple transitions from life in Mexico to the U.S., both of their roles as eldest daughters in immigrant family homes, the lessons of love they have both shared with one another, and the power of matriarchal healing. This piece honors the divine feminine in Ruby’s maternal matriarchal line and the four generations of women who are alive today. Performed just feet from your table, this powerful and tender work invites you to witness the deep connection between a daughter becoming free and the mother who made it possible.
Featuring original music by YNOT, visual and set design by Delia Ibañez, lighting design by Esteban Rosales, and stage management by Takela King.

Por Nosotras Comemos una experiencia íntima de danza-teatro entre madre e hija dentro de Taquería El Vaporcito en Phoenix. La coreógrafa Ruby Morales y su madre, Miriam Zavala, transforman el restaurante en un altar viviente de memoria, migración y amor matriarcal—fusionando cumbia, breaking, música original y relatos familiares transmitidos a través de cuatro generaciones de mujeres poderosas.
Por Nosotras Comemos encarna las múltiples transiciones de la madre de Ruby desde su vida en México hasta los Estados Unidos, sus roles compartidos como hijas mayores en hogares inmigrantes, la profunda entrega de su madre hacia sus hijos, y las lecciones de amor que ambas han aprendido. Esta obra rinde homenaje a lo divino femenino en la línea matriarcal materna de Ruby y a las cuatro generaciones de mujeres que están vivas hoy. Interpretada a solo unos pasos de tu mesa, esta obra poderosa y conmovedora te invita a presenciar el vínculo profundo entre una hija que se libera y la madre que hizo posible esa libertad.
