104 Wellington St, Stratford
Presented in partnership with Destination Stratford's After Dark series.
Stratford Poet Laureate David Stones and jazz guitarist Jaron Camp recreate the magic of The Bitter End in Greenwich Village, 1961: a moment when the world stood on the edge of everything from Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell to the Cuban missile crisis, Vietnam, peace marches, the Beatles, and a string of assassinations. It was also the peak of the Beat Generation poets: Ginsberg, Ferlinghetti, Kerouac, Bukowski and the rest of the boys.
Stones brings a generous helping of their work to the stage, woven together with his own poetry. Camp adds vocal tributes to Dylan, Cohen, and the McGarrigle Sisters. The result is an eclectic, smoky mix of whisky and razor blade verse and song, built for a room like The Bunker.
Poetry. Jazz. Rebellion. Cocktails.
