For 200 years Presbyterian Cemetery has offered comfort to the living and immortality to generations of Central Virginians. Learn more about one of the Hill City’s oldest cemeteries and sculpture gardens in this casual, 60-minute, guided walking tour.

 

Tour stops include the gravesites of the inventor of ChapStick Charles B. Fleet, Swedish engineer August Forsberg and his nurse (and later wife) Mary Morgan, and the first firefighters ever killed in the line of duty in Lynchburg.

 

Tours are free, but reservations are required in advance. Call (434) 455–6226 or visit LynchburgMuseum.org/walking-tours to reserve your spot. Each tour is limited to 20 people. Tour includes walking off-road on irregular terrain, so please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Established in 1998, the Lynchburg Museum Foundation is the non-profit support organization for the Lynchburg Museum System, which manages the public museums and archives of the City of Lynchburg. The Foundation supports the Museum System in its role as the city’s primary center for collecting, interpreting, preserving, and sharing local history and culture. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization as recognized by the IRS. Its mission is to conduct activities to support and assist the growth and development of the Lynchburg Museum System.
