Description

Join accomplished pressed flower artist Susan McChesney to explore Oshibana, the Japanese tradition of creating art with pressed plant materials. 

  • Learn techniques of pressing, un-pressing, storing, collating, and sealing to practice on your own.
  • Create a sealed collage with materials provided, in addition to going home with a pressing packet, pressed fresh flowers, materials for storage, and a comprehensive resource sheet.
  • All materials provided.

Susan McChesney is a pressed flower artist living and working in western NC. 

A longtime educator, she worked for 24 years at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Using pressed petals like strokes of paint, she creates landscape images reminiscent of WNC. Producing originals, prints, notecards and jigsaw puzzles, her work is in a variety of WNC galleries and shops. She also presses Special Occasion Bouquets on commission.
